Planet Ocean 2019 Interdisciplinary Workshop

The Planet Ocean Interdisciplinary Workshop took place in All Hallows Campus DCU last Saturday 21st September. The event, co-organised by DCU, NUIG, the Water Institute and sponsored by the IRC was a day of discussion and knowledge exchange.

The keynote address, ‘History Offers New Perspective on the Future of the Ocean,’ was delivered by Prof Callum Roberts, University of York, chief scientific advisor on BBC’s Blue Planet II.

Water Institute director Prof Fiona Regan tabled an open discussion titled ‘Living and working in and with Marine and Coastal Environments’ to conclude the workshop.

An exhibition of the work of Pamela Heaney, Water Institute designer-in-residence was on display. It featured items that explore and interpret the growth, layering and patterns of algae and crab surfaces.
