Water Institute Represented in Oireachtas Pairing Scheme

The Water Institute are delighted to have Prof Fiona Regan participating in the Royal Irish Academy’s Oireachtas Pairing Scheme, a collaborative project between the Academy and the Houses of the Oireachtas that runs from Nov 2019 to March 2020. The project sees members of the Oireachtas paired with scientists and researchers working on issues of relevance to their work. The areas the partnerships cover are some of the most pressing challenges facing Ireland today, including flooding risks, housing, rural sustainability and energy.

Oireachtas members will be able to learn about the cutting edge research taking place in Ireland while in exchange the academics can learn how their work enters and impacts the world of policy and legislation. The Royal Irish Academy notes that the program will also grow “an important network between academics and legislators, and the connections made during the scheme will lead to greater collaboration in the future.”
