Under the Ocean Decade (2021–2030) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the DCU Water Institute’s Marine Research Themes focus on advancing sustainable solutions for ocean health. Key areas include Ocean Energy, Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs), AI-driven Sensing and Marine Biodiversity, Modelling, Decision Support, and Image Analysis.
In 2024, DCU Water Institute strengthened these efforts, leveraging engineering, chemistry, and biosensing in collaboration with Irish and EU research bodies to protect and sustain our vital global marine resources.
