Alisson Dégousée graduated with a BSc in Chemistry from University Savoie Mont Blanc, France in 2017. She continued on her academic career, undertaking a Master’s degree in Green Chemistry at the same university.
Alisson carried out her Master internship with the DCU Water Institute where she worked on the preparation and characterisation of superhydrophobic coatings for a range of applications. As part of this project, she synthesised different silane solutions and employed different coating techniques to optimise the hydrophobicity of the material and increase its contact angle.
Alisson also worked on the preparation of microchip modules for sensor developments which will be coated with the hydrophobic material she has worked on.
“I thought that this internship was a really good experience for me.
I felt very welcomed by all my colleagues. By working with the Water Institute, I got to experience work in the research field and I got to collaborate with other students and researchers, learning a lot in the process. I also got to discover a beautiful country during my stay and it was great to experience working in a university other than USMB. Overall, it was a real pleasure to work with the Institute.”
Alisson is planning on completing her Master’s degree and following that, to pursue a PhD in the same field. We wish her all the best in her future pursuits.
