Today June 9th 2020 the Water Institute held their June Virtual Water Cafe where the guest speaker was Thomas Carolan from LawPro (Local Authority Waters Programme). Thomas presented on the integral role of LawPro in driving the Water Framework Directive through the development and implementation of the River Basin Management plan by providing guidance and advice to community and volunteer groups throughout Ireland.
The virtual Water Cafe had over 20 attendees from academics, researchers, volunteer groups and numerous attendees from industry. The presentation was very insightful as Thomas’ role is interacting with communities, encouraging and guiding the effectiveness of the valuable work these groups do all on a voluntary basis.
