Eurachem webinar: The practical and analytical challenges of water monitoring.

The DCU Water Institute was delighted to take part in a webinar on analytical challenges of water monitoring hosted by Eurachem, in conjunction with Arup.

Our very own Prof. Fiona Regan was joined by Lindsay Connolly, hydrogeologist with global sustainability consultancy firm Arup.

Ms. Connolly gave an insightful presentation on the systems of groundwater sampling and monitoring using boreholes, as well as the technical developments and difficulties associated with these practices. Prof. Regan developed the conversation from an analytical monitoring perspective, discussing the prevalence of emerging contaminants in water bodies, as well as the establishment of environmental watchlists of chemicals of concern, including pharmaceuticals and industrial chemicals such as PFAS.
