The DCU Water Institute proudly hosted a special screening of the acclaimed documentary, “Our Blue World: A Water Odyssey,” at DCU St. Patrick’s Campus. The event, organised as part of the Institute’s World Water Day initiatives, brought together students, academics, and members of the public to explore humanity’s deep relationship with water and the urgent need for water conservation.
The documentary, produced by the Brave Blue World Foundation, highlights global water challenges and showcases inspiring solutions being implemented by communities and innovators worldwide.
The panel, chaired by Dr. Jenny Lawler from the School of Biotechnology, featured contributions from Emeritus Professor Pat Brereton, Councillor Donna Cooney, and Nicolette Mackay Sale, Class Representative for the 4th year Environmental Chemistry program. The discussion explored key topics with the audience, including the importance of communicating environmental issues effectively across diverse audiences, the critical role of strong policy frameworks to protect water resources, strategies to engage and inspire young people on climate action, and the need for clear, transparent messaging to empower local communities.
