It’s raining….
“Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet.”
— Roger Miller.
Weather is always a really important topic of conversation. How do we describe the rain?
It looks like it’s going to rain
It’s raining cats and dogs
The heavens have opened
It’s drizzling
It’s spitting
It’s bucketing down
It’s good weather for ducks
April showers
A downpour
It’s been raining on and off all day.
It’s pouring
It’s raining sideways
A deluge
It’s really coming down out there
Let’s stay inside until the rain lets up
Getting soaking wet
Scattered showers
I’ve had enough of all this rain!!
In various parts of the globe, rain is described in different ways – some of the translations are:
Faroe Islands: It’s raining pilot whales
Germany: It’s raining puppies
Greece: It’s raining chair legs
Romania: It’s raining frogs
Portugal: It’s raining frogs’ beard
Slovakia: Tractors are falling
A hopeful note in terms of COVID-19 – Every storm, runs out of rain
