EPA release 2020 Bathing Water Report

The EPA released the 2020 Bathing Water report today.
The highlights include calls from the EPA for year round beach monitoring as more people take to swimming. The results in this report only relate to June – September monitoring which is complying with EU law but it’s apparent that it needs to be monitored all year round.
The EPA have called on Local Authorities to prioritise measures to improve the poor bathing waters to at least sufficient. They have also called on Irish Water to make improvements in the operation, management and maintenance of plants and networks which impact on bathing waters.
