The perfect blade of grass – at what cost?

Southwest Florida Water Management District today reminds residents who irrigate their lawns to skip a week or more of watering during the cooler months of January and February.

The University of Florida has reported research findings that, grass doesn’t need to be watered as often during the cooler months. The water managers suggest that if the lawn has received significant rainfall, the irrigation system can be operated manually. Great wisdom indeed! And such a great problem if the grass were to loose it’s perfect appearance. Such a valuable water message coming from water managers in Florida. Where is the biodiversity message in all of this?
