Ocean Decade

Claude Debussy, by nature is said to be as shy as his music is diaphanous.

I enjoy listening to Debussy’s La Mer. Such a powerful piece. It is a set of three symphonic sketches “La Mer.” – “From Dawn to Noon at Sea,” “Gambols of the Waves,” “ Dialogue between the Wind and Sea.” Debussy loved the sea – he was 8 years old when he first visited it I believe. I love the sea and luckily my work allows me explore and study this amazing deep space. The UN Ocean Decade is an opportunity to study the oceans. On 5 December 2017, the UN proclaimed a Decade of Ocean Science (2021-2030). This decade aims to provide a common framework to ensure that ocean science can help sustainably manage the Oceans.

Our work on the science of the marine environment will ramp up this year as we work with partners all over the world, to develop technologies and methods to observe the diaphanous beneath.
